PGMOL have released a statement on the David Coote video that has been doing the rounds on social media today.
It seems that the international break will not be a quiet one judging by how this Monday has started.
After receiving both updates for Trent Alexander-Arnold’s hamstring injury as well as contract talks for the endangered trio, there seems to be yet more news involving Liverpool.
This Monday afternoon, footage emerged on social media showing what appeared to be David Coote allegedly aiming derogatory remarks towards Liverpool and former manager Jurgen Klopp.
The legitimacy and timing of the footage remain uncertain, but its widespread circulation on Monday afternoon has prompted an investigation by PGMOL, the organization overseeing refereeing in English football.
The videos, which could be doctored in any number of ways including with AI, allegedly shows the 42-year-old match official referring to Klopp as a “f***ing arrogant” and a “German c***.”
The Professional Game Match Officials (PGMOL) have now released a statement on the matter, saying:
“David Coote has been suspended with immediate effect pending a full investigation. PGMOL will be making no further comment until that process is complete.”
